It took me a long time to write about this experience. My journey in Kenya was a 48-hour tour de force in which I was overwhelmed by countless incredible emotions that needed time to be assimilated.
The event to which I was invited by Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Nairobi was a theatrical performance by the Social Justice Travelling Theatre, part of the 'Activate Nairobi' campaign. A performance that struck me both for its sensitivity in addressing such strong themes and for the skill of the actors in interacting with the boys and girls of Comboni Primary School in Korogocho.
During moments of interaction with the audience, I live-illustrated portraits of the three protagonists of the play, which will become panels displayed in the school to raise awareness about themes of respect and equality.
I felt the profound impact of this experience in every single moment of this journey, and I hope that the power of these moments can contribute to spreading a positive message among the students who participated in the event.
